Eastern Iowa Airport (CID)
The Eastern Iowa Airport is just minutes from Cedar Rapids with speedy luggage processing, fast security, and friendly staff. Greg and Carissa highly recommend arranging your connecting flight through Detroit or Minneapolis as opposed to a Chicago layover. Both airports are exceptionally less prone to delays than O'Hare.
Long layover? In Minneapolis Airport we recommend Ike's for classic fare and longer stays, Surdyk's for grab-and-go, and French Meadow for vegetarian and vegan options. Detroit has less options, but consider the Gourmet PB&J or National Coney Island. If you do get stuck in Chicago, Frontera Tortas by Rick Bayless are a MUST. Wolfgang Puck also has a stand cranking out decent pizza.
